Chapter XVII

Locations and Set-Pieces

Rooms, coasts, and skies you can drop a scene into.

Every location contains a public owner, a quiet owner, a witness, and a wrong move.

Canula Prime sits at the intersection of trade routes, military ambition, and a dense pre-Sundering field complex.

Boca Serena: Arrival Quarter

Boca Serena is the official city and principal harbor. Porto Sombra is its older dock district, sailors’ name, and political underbelly. Officials use Boca Serena when they want the city to sound governable. Workers, smugglers, and old families use Porto Sombra when they mean the place beneath the flags.

San Telmo Reference Map

San Telmo Plantation Estate and the inland Source route. The reconstructed Ear passage is sealed; use the Game Master’s Guide for the complete Adventure Zero set-piece.

Reusing San Telmo

Do not send the characters through the same chamber again unless their choices changed it. Use San Telmo as a contested site, legal exhibit, damaged access point, or battlefield location. The reconstructed Ear passage remains sealed. The Breathing Source is a separate inland complex reached by the jungle and cave approach and connected to San Telmo only through ancient field geometry.

Mar de Oro Game Master Area

This is the Game Master side of Tales of Mar de Oro: campaign chapters, session preparation tools, and running guidance for the Golden Sea. It is open to anyone, but it is written for the person behind the screen.

Campaign spoiler warning: the material past this point includes faction secrets, hidden truths, and the sequence of events behind the campaign. Reading it as a player will hollow out surprises the setting depends on.

Spoiler-free GM resources you can open without entering: Mar de Oro GM Tables and new Game Master onboarding.
